A call today for the Prime Minister to withdraw his statement that police officers are hiding from the criminals.

Head of the Police Association ASP Gideon Dickson on Tuesday called for Dr. Rowley to revisit his comments, but today he is going a step further.

Nicole M Romany tells us more.
Transcript
00:00On Monday, Dr. Rowley told the Parliament, officers were hiding from criminals in police stations, with their lights off and the doors locked.
00:11We believe that the statement should be withdrawn, so we are calling on the Prime Minister to withdraw the statement.
00:19According to ASP Dixon, everyone knows the importance of the state of emergency and its impact on murders.
00:27He says the police officers are being overworked, under-resourced and treated like pawns in a chess game.
00:35ASP Dixon also notes the wide-reaching effects of what was implied.
00:40The statements made by the Prime Minister would have gone global. We are in a global market.
00:46I got calls from persons in Barbados, at least two persons from Barbados, with respect to the statement made by the Prime Minister and even the responses that I would have made.
00:58And we found it to be very alarming and disheartening.
01:04We could have seen that the extension would have been coming.
01:11When the statement was made, to me, or to us, it was an overkill.
01:17Dixon is calling on office holders to be craftier and more skilled in communicating, as their words can influence how people see things.
01:27He further warns criminals against getting into gunfights with the police.
01:32The Association President then revealed this to TV6.
01:37I will be demitting office in June, the end of June, so hopefully whoever sits at the helm will be as forthright and deliver both your viewership and by extension our membership.
