California doesn’t prepare for wildfires

Wildfires are common in the state of California, but the government fails to take the necessary steps to prepare for them, California State Legislature Assembly Member Bill Essayli says.   #California #CaliforniaFires

00:07Forecast and you know, you've got thousands of kilometers of arid landscape plus those winds you mentioned

00:13I mean, there's a really lethal combination here and a sense perhaps that things might get worse before they get better

00:18Well, we hope not but really this is not new to California

00:22California is very accustomed to having wildfires and these dry conditions

00:26And so part of the criticism that we've had here as as elected officials

00:31And me being a Republican in California is that we don't manage our lands properly to prepare for these conditions

00:39We know these conditions come every year, but we fail to take the necessary steps to really prepare for it
