00:14Mehram, just tell me about what is the kite flying tradition in Egypt?
00:20First of all, thanks for having me.
00:23In Egypt, we do kite flying in the summer time.
00:29In summer time, we do actually this kite flying tradition.
00:33We do the kite in a certain way which is a little difficult from here
00:37but it's really good and since the kids and everybody loves to play with this
00:43or fly their kites and we have been doing this since ages.
00:49We love this and you can find it in every home and every place in Egypt.
00:54So what day or any certain day when you are flying the kites?

01:01On any special day you are flying kites?
01:04As I said before, we do it since we are kids or so.
01:08So it's coming naturally with time and we came here actually once before.
01:14It was like two years ago and it was a good experience.
01:18That's why we came back this time to just enjoy it one more.
01:24In India, we are using the paper kites.
01:29So what material you are using for making kites?
01:34We have many materials.
01:36You can actually use the paper kites too or like plastic.

01:46We call kite as a patang.
01:48How do you pronounce kite in your language?
01:51Arabic or the local language?
01:53In Egypt and Arabic, we say tayyara warak
01:58which is translated to paper kite or paper flight which is tayyara warak.
02:06So we have a long tradition.
02:07Thousands of years we are flying kites from the different material.
02:11Do Egypt also have the long tradition of flying kites?
02:16Yeah, we do.
02:18We love flying our kites.
02:22As I said before, everyone is doing it especially in spring or in the beaches like the sea and stuff.
02:31You are going to find many kites there.
02:35Women also fly kites in Egypt?
02:38Of course.
02:39Of course, we do fly kites in Egypt.
02:42Women and men, we do all fly kites.
02:48So generally, Egypt and a lot of African Arab countries, they do love Bollywood, Hindi films.

03:25I don't remember the song but there is a song from Happy New Year.

03:32I don't remember it, sorry.

03:40Okay, so in Egypt and in Egypt, Indian culture and especially Bollywood has a big impact.
