Djokovic 'begged' Murray to coach him ahead of Australian Open

Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray revealed how their on-court rivalry sparked a surprise partnership.

00:00So we exchanged a few messages, got on a call and yeah, we had a long chat.

00:09Novak asked me to help him.

00:11I was shocked.

00:12I was obviously not expecting that when he called.

00:14And then I said, look, I'm going to have to ask my wife, see what she says.

00:23And yeah, she was really supportive of it.

00:25And you know, obviously, yeah, pretty unique opportunity.

00:28And yeah, we thought we'd give it a go and see if I can help.

00:33The way it happened is that I begged him.

00:35I said, Andy, please be my coach.

00:39Then we agreed.

00:42And we spent a good eight, nine days of the preparation period in December.

00:47And then he advised me that he's going to have a family, first family skiing trip.

00:52And it's going to be the first time he's going to get on the skis.

00:55So yeah, I was worried.

00:57I just said, you know, Andy, please come in one piece.
