The city of Dresden was the site of some of the most devastating bombing campaigns of the Second World War.

00:00Some 10,000 people have been evacuated from the German city of Dresden after the discovery
00:06of a World War II bomb on Wednesday.
00:11The device was discovered during the demolition of a bridge near the historic center.
00:16Authorities have decided to defuse it on site.
00:21Dresden was the site of several bombing campaigns, including the infamous February 1945 air raids
00:27that saw the Allies drop 4,000 bombs, leaving the city center in ruins and killing 25,000
00:34people.
