અમદાવાદમાં સપ્તક વાર્ષિક સંગીત સમારોહના સાતમા દિવસે પણ શાસ્ત્રીય સંગીતના જાણીતા કલાકારો દ્વારા પ્રસ્તુતિ આપવામાં આવી હતી.

00:29I have started playing tabla from the age of 3.

00:33Even today, I am learning tabla and I am trying to do something good.

00:45At the age of 3, what did the child know, what to do?

00:49How did you come to know that I have a career in this?

00:53Yes, there has always been a musical environment in our house.

00:57My father himself was a tabla player.

01:01At home, some people from my mother's family also used to play tabla.

01:07My mother also used to play tabla a little.

01:10So, I started playing tabla after seeing my father.

01:14So, in a way, I can say that there was a musical environment in our house.

01:19And seeing them, the way children play with music or anything,

01:25they gave me that as a toy.

01:30And today I am playing tabla on it.

01:33This is a very big thing for me.

01:35Sir, you mentioned Punjab Gharana in the middle.

01:40What is the specialty of Punjab Gharana?

01:45See, Punjab Gharana is one of the six gharanas of our tabla.

01:52And my great guruji, Abbaji Ustad Allah Rakhakhar Sahib,

02:03Vibhushan Ustad Zakir Hussain ji,

02:05then my guruji, Pandit Yogesh Shamsi ji.

02:14So, in a way, I wanted to play the tabla of Punjab Gharana too.

02:20Because I really liked the specialty of that gharana.

02:25I really liked all the specialties.

02:27Different compositions, bandishes, there are a lot of things in it.

02:30Sir, you mentioned that there are six different gharanas.

02:34Yes.

02:35Sir, what is the difference between the gharanas?

02:38See, in a gharana, every gharana has a different speciality.

02:43For example, in our tabla, there is a composition called Kaida.

02:50The Delhi gharana is very famous.

02:54From there, the Kaida was born.

02:56There is a lot of speciality in such words.

03:02Then there is Farrukhabad, Lucknow, Ajrada, Banaras, then Punjab Gharana.

03:09So, there are different specialties in such different gharanas.

03:14So, the way everyone plays the tabla of every gharana,

03:17someone has a specialty in the Banaras gharana,

03:21someone in the Punjab gharana, someone in Farrukhabad.

03:24So, in this way, we can define that this is the gharana.

03:29Nowadays, everyone plays the tabla.

03:31So, the tabla is one.

03:33It's just that everyone has a different style of playing.

03:36Sir, you are going to perform in Saptak today.

03:38What will you perform?

03:40Yes, this is my fifth or sixth time playing Saptak.

03:44And I have been involved in Saptak for a long time.

03:49I am fortunate that I got the blessing of Pandit Nandan Mehta ji

03:53when I was very young.

03:54I was 14-15 years old.

03:55I played in the Sankalp program.

03:58And there, he taught me a couple of fardh.

04:01At that time, I was not able to talk that much due to my health.

04:04But whatever he used to talk a little bit,

04:07he taught me a couple of bandishes in that.

04:10So, I still remember that. I still play.

04:13And this is my fifth or sixth time playing Saptak.

04:16And today's presence, what we are saying in 25,

04:25a very big guru, a very big tabla player,

04:28Padma Vibhoshan Ustad Zakir Hussain ji.
