00:10very important book written by Justice Nag Mohan Das, a retired Justice of Karnataka

00:22India High Court, explaining the importance of the constitutional values as enshrined

00:35in the Constitution of India. Justice Nag Mohan Das, while highlighting the important

00:44aspects, the secular, democratic and republican values enshrined in Indian Constitution, he

00:57has also very judiciously and carefully highlighted the threats that are coming towards this very

01:15same secular, democratic and republican values enshrined in the Indian Constitution of late.

01:24Not only during the last 10 years or so, when there is a paradigm shift in the ideology

01:37and philosophy that governs the powers that be, but since the mid 80s, there has been

01:53systematic efforts to propagate certain values in the name of values, according to those

02:10who advocate this argument. They say that the Indian Constitution does not represent

02:20the Indian traditional jurisprudence. So, these forces, this communal and revivalist

02:33forces, they say that the Constitution which was adopted following detailed debates in

02:42the Constituent Assembly, after we having achieved independence, that Constitution should

02:49be done away with or drastically changed to make Indian Constitution quote-unquote

02:59a Constitution which follows quote-unquote Indian tradition, which in short is what is

03:08embodied in Manusmriti. When the Indian Constitution Assembly was about to finalize the Constitution
