A lorry driver and his attendant were killed after their lorry, carrying a load of iron, plunged into a ravine at KM42.1 of the East Coast Highway towards Kuantan on Monday (Jan 6) night.

00:11plunged into a ravine at kilometre 42.1 of the East Coast Highway heading towards Kuantan

00:18Pahang Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations and Rescue, Mohamad
00:24Salahuddin Issa, said an emergency call on the incident was received at 8.16pm.
00:31Personnel from the Bentong Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene.
00:36The operation was also assisted by two search dogs before the firemen used rescue equipment
00:42to remove the victims from the lorry.
00:45Mohamad Salahuddin said the first victim was extricated from the vehicle at 7.47am on Tuesday
00:53and the second victim at 9.30am.
00:55Both men were confirmed dead by health ministry officials and their bodies were handed over
01:00to the police for further action.
