00:00COMMON DAD
00:1201 THE NOCTURNAL CAR CLUB IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST CUSTOMIZED VEHICLE CLUBS IN THE WORLD, WITH
00:17CHAPTERS ACROSS AMERICA, EUROPE AND ASIA.
00:2001 I SAY THIS IS A HOBBY BUT IT STILL DOESN'T FEEL LIKE A HOBBY. YOU PUT IN MORE HOURS THAN
00:25YOU DO AT WORK. WE LOVE IT. BUT IT FEELS LIKE A FULL TIME JOB.
00:29The members spend hundreds of thousands of pounds and countless hours turning their regular
00:33cars into moving, roaring works of art.
00:36Here you have a 1998 Chevy two-door Tahoe. We converted the whole front end, as you see,
00:44fenders. We added oversized wheels, 28-inch, fully engraved and painted. We added a nice
00:51mural on top of the hood, our caddy paint job, pearl paint job, and then some pin striping.
01:00Money-wise, it's very hard to pinpoint it, but a rough estimate would probably be $90,000
01:07to $100,000. I know it sounds like a lot to a lot of people, but also it's a build that
01:13has taken maybe four to four-plus years.
01:19First started doing it for, you know, hey, the girls. Why lie? But eventually you do
01:23it so long, you overlook that. That's not what you're building. You fall in love with
01:27it and, you know, the attention the builds get and everybody's reaction is something
01:31different. When they first see our rides on the street or anywhere we're setting them
01:36up, first thing that comes out of people's mouth is, you know, wow. Second thing is,
01:40why would you do that to a new car? Our car club is we try to go after the newest stuff
01:44and pretty much mess it up.
01:46The car is great. It's fantastic. It seems there's no part of this car that's not customized.
01:57The paint is extraordinary. Definitely has show quality. This vehicle is definitely above
02:03the top. Unique.
02:07We ran out of ideas on cars, so why not build a golf cart, right? We put some 14-inch rims
02:12on the golf cart. LEDs all the way on the bottom. Halo lights. It's got TVs everywhere.
02:16We have an iPad that goes on the dash. Xbox 360 in the back. And actually this damn golf
02:22cart weighs probably as much as a car. I'm sitting on a good 12 batteries right now.
02:27You spend at least $5,000 just on these batteries.
02:30Despite the incredible amount of time and money involved in being a member of the club,
02:35it's grown exponentially since its inception in 2001.
02:39We started in Montebello, California. We've expanded to 28 chapters, including Texas,
02:45Florida, St. Louis, Chicago, New York, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and now presently in Japan as well.
02:55Nocturnal as a club, I mean, now it's more like family. I've missed so many birthday
03:00parties, parties, and we've gone everywhere with these guys, with our members, you know,
03:04and sometimes they do more for you than your own family does.
03:09Everybody thinks I'm crazy and my family. They say I waste too much money on it, but
03:14my perks are different, my rewards are different. I grew up reading Lowrider magazine here,
03:20always aspired to maybe one day come out in the magazine, but successfully we've won
03:26and I'm a three-time champ when it comes to Lowrider.
03:30You say I'm obsessed with all these vehicles, but I don't call it obsessed. It's just,
03:34you know, what you love doing.
