00:06Orange Children's Hospital, Chandkhera, Ahmedabad.

00:08Recently, we have seen an infection of human metanemovirus in a child.

00:16In this video, we will talk about how this infection is found in a child, in which children

00:22or in which adults this infection is more likely to occur and what are its treatment

00:26modalities.

00:28First of all, there is no need to panic in this.

00:31This is basically a simple flu-like virus, in which the symptoms are normally cold, cough,

00:37bulging.

00:38In severe cases, it is called breathlessness, in which the child breathes a little at a

00:44speed.

00:45Sometimes the oxygen level is down, but it is found in very rare cases.

00:50The child who came to us was admitted here on December 24 at Orange Hospital.

00:57He had a cold cough for almost 2-3 days.

01:00He came from a village in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

01:05We kept the child on a small machine for 2-3 days.

01:08After that, the child's oxygen was not being maintained.

01:11So we gave him the support of a ventilator machine.

01:14After almost 5 days of ventilator support, the child's condition improved a lot.

01:20There is anti-viral medication, supportive treatment, nebulization.

01:24After that, we kept the child on a small machine and now the child is ready for discharge.

01:29The baby is absolutely fine.

01:31The main issue with that child was that when the child was a newborn, he was premature.

01:37Because of which the child had to be given a ventilator, a surfactant, a lung injection.

01:44So this child must have been affected by this because his lungs were already compromised.

01:49Normally, there is no need to worry about infection in healthy babies.

01:55Just follow the routine.

01:57Whenever you have a cold or cough, use a mask.

01:59We recommend hand washing 10-12 times a day.

02:03And those who have been infected, just use your mask.

02:08Even a simple cloth mask is also useful to prevent the transmission.
