Former US President Jimmy Carter's six-day state funeral begins in Georgia

Carter, who was in the White House from 1977-1981, died on 29 December at the age of 100.

00:16A motorcade with Carter's casket began at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americas

00:21and passed through his hometown of Plains.

00:24The procession then headed to Atlanta and onto the Carter Presidential Center for a

00:29private service.

00:31From Saturday evening until 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Carter will lie in repose for the

00:35public to pay respects around the clock.

00:38His remains will then travel to Washington, where he will lie in state in the Capitol

00:42Rotunda until his funeral at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Washington National Cathedral.

00:48He will then be buried in a private ceremony in his hometown of Plains.
