00:00The announcement that the Surgeon General just made about alcohol being linked to cancer
00:15doesn't surprise me because it is a type of poison that we are consuming and I'm glad
00:21that he is making the announcement and putting it out there.
00:25I think having a warning label on the bottle stating what he just announced would be very
00:29helpful so it will give people a chance to determine if they want to take the risk or
00:33not.
00:34I feel like it's a good idea to put that on there.
00:41A lot of people don't know the risk of it because they start abusing everything once
00:45they start getting to it, especially drinking.
00:46A lot of people abuse alcohol so I feel like it's a good idea to put it on there to give
00:51at least somebody, when they buy it, you know, they can read it, they can understand what's
00:55going on and stuff.
00:56How I feel about alcohol being linked to cancer, oh I believe it.
01:01I believe that a lot of the things that we eat and drink in this country can lead to
01:07cancer so almost everything does, they say.
01:10I was just reading that black spoons and forks cause cancer so yeah, I believe it.
01:16As a physician, I knew that alcohol was associated with at least nine different cancers, especially
01:22esophageal or gastrointestinal cancers.
01:24And also as a wine nerd, I had certifications saying that alcohol is somewhat of a cause
01:31in association with cancer.
01:33However, I always go along with moderation is moderation.
01:37I think with moderate use of alcohol, that cancer risk is almost minimal.
01:43Putting warning labels on alcohol will probably cause more mindful imbibing, hopefully less
01:51over imbibing and maybe intentional.
01:54Probably people would stay within the, I guess, suggested number of 7 to 14 per week
02:00knowing that there is a risk.
02:02I think probably more of a healthy appetite for drinking.
02:05I think it's a great thing and I think it should definitely be on there, absolutely.
02:11Because it is a hazard.
02:12It hurts your body and it's not good, it alters your state of mind and potentially, it's definitely
02:19a hazard.
02:20Fifty-seven, that's a lot.
02:21You know, it's a joke because I drink here and there, you know, I'm a weekend warrior
02:27or whatever, but I work out, we train, we watch what we eat.
02:32That's what's really killing everybody, what you're eating, you know.
02:35As I stand here drinking an alcoholic beverage, I think a warning label is good.
02:40I think you can warn people just like we do cigarettes.
02:42Is it still going to happen?
02:44Yes.
02:45I think it's something you can warn people, you can give them all the data you want, you
02:47can give them all the information they need.
02:50It's their choice if they want to take it or not.
