00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most exasperating moments
00:13from Squid Game where one bad choice ruined everything.
00:17There are spoilers ahead for both seasons of the show.
00:20You have been warned.
00:26Number 10.
00:27Trusting Sang-woo.
00:38Let's get the obvious out of the way first, shall we?
00:41Cho Sang-woo, played by Park Hae-soo, was conniving yet pitiful and frustrating all
00:46at the same time.
00:58For most of the game, there was no conscience behind his glazed-over eyes.
01:02It wasn't surprising, therefore, that he repeatedly resorted to manipulation.
01:07Just a tad disappointing is all.
01:09By misleading his allies in the honeycomb game, betraying Ali during marbles and murdering
01:15Sang-woo abandoned his chance at a clean exit.
01:28Sure it helped him advance to the final round, but his selfishness ultimately cost him his
01:32life.
01:35Number 9.
01:36Judging a book by its cover.
01:48In group games, most of the players have a default principle for picking teammates.
01:52They want strong men, even when they have no idea what games they're teaming up for.
02:08So naturally, women are usually at an instant disadvantage.
02:13In season one, Han Min-yo is constantly shunned, to the point that she doesn't even have a
02:17partner for marbles.
02:19What could have been a disqualification ends up as a blessing as she is given a free pass
02:23to the next round.
02:28Similarly, in season two, Cho Hyun-joo, a trans woman, and Jang Geum-ja, an elderly
02:37lady are looked down upon during Six Legs.
02:40Yet both end up being crucial in their team's triumph.
02:43So who's really the loser here?
02:55Number 8.
02:56Not clocking the fishy captain.
03:05If you've watched your fair share of K-content, you probably noticed that Captain Park is
03:09played by renowned, albeit disgraced, actor Oh Dae-su.
03:20Regardless of his controversies, his seniority suggests he probably did not join the cast
03:25to simply be a skipper.
03:27So it really doesn't come as a shock when he betrays Jun-ho and his crew.
03:34What is baffling, however, is how easily Jun-ho trusts him and reveals the most important
03:39details of his exploration mission.
03:47One could argue that Park deliberately misleads him and keeps the game's authorities informed
03:52about his every move.
03:54Perhaps that's why Jun-ho is always at the wrong place at the right time.
04:03For a police detective, he didn't really have that good of a hunch.
04:07Number 7.
04:08Underestimating the salesman.
04:19Squid Game Season 2 is set into motion when Gi-hun manages to find the salesman with the
04:23help of two loan sharks turned lackeys.
04:25He is stern in warning them against dealing with the maniac on their own.
04:35However, the cash reward makes them lose their judgment and they proceed to apprehend him.
04:42What ensues is a shamefully easy two-to-one fight, which ends with Gi-hun's men playing
04:47rock-paper-scissors-minus-one to the death in the salesman's lair.
04:57The children's game is combined with Russian roulette, leaving one offed and another shaking
05:03in his invisible boots.
05:04Well, if it isn't the consequences of your own actions.
05:19Number 6.
05:20Jung-bae not exposing number one.
05:28One of the biggest jaw-dropping plot twists in Season 2 of Squid Game is when the frontman
05:32is revealed to be player one.
05:43It elevates the suspense of the show while also hearkening back to Oh Il-nam from Season
05:471.
05:48Now, we do understand that the whole season builds up to a will-he-won't-he, however,
05:53it was undoubtedly a careless decision for Jung-bae to not tell his teammates that the
05:57man snapped a fellow contestant's neck in cold blood during the mingle game.
06:07This would have certainly raised a red flag, at least for Gi-hun, who strongly opposed
06:12bloodshed outside the games.
06:23Jung-bae tries to reveal this information a couple of times, but always decides against
06:27it or is interrupted.
06:33Number 5.
06:34Dae-ho abandoning the riot.
06:40In the final episode of Squid Game Season 2, Gi-hun and friends stage a coup against the
06:44soldiers to end the game for good.
06:46However, there are too many variables for it to go smoothly.
06:50One of them is Dae-ho, an ex-Marine.
07:00As loud and imposing as he appears, Dae-ho, whose name he says means Big Tiger, is possibly
07:06traumatized from his experience in the military.
07:14So when he's sent back to the player's room for ammo, he chooses to quit the mission and
07:18hides in a corner, terrified of the battle raging outside.
07:28The move proves detrimental to the uprising, as Hyun-joo is forced to return to base to
07:33do his job for him.
07:34Number 4.
07:35No-eul joining the guards.
07:37As badass as she looks in the pink uniform, North Korean defector No-eul digs her own
07:42grave by joining the soldiers.
07:57She may be the perfect killing machine, but doesn't derive sadistic pleasure from it.
08:02When she sees player 246 during red light, green light, she's unnerved by the thought
08:06of potentially having to shoot him, knowing his daughter is sick.
08:10Meanwhile, she's also getting on the officer's bad side by ensuring the eliminated players
08:14are actually dead to try and end their suffering.
08:24On top of that, the officer seems to know about her dangerous past in North Korea.
08:29Essentially, she's trapped and might have it worse than the players.
08:33That's why you read the job description carefully, everyone.
08:40Number 3.
08:41Jun-ho hiding In-ho's identity.
08:56Deep breaths for this one now.
08:58Let's remember what a dreamboat Jun-ho is and forgive him for one of the gravest blunders
09:02in the show.
09:03Early in season 2, Gi-hun asks Jun-ho if he had seen the frontman's face while undercover
09:07as a guard.
09:08Unsurprisingly, he says no.
09:15At this point, Gi-hun, quite logically, assures him that killing the frontman is not his solution
09:20to ending the game.
09:21Still, Jun-ho insists that he doesn't know who the frontman is.
09:25What's vexing is if he had just shown him In-ho's face and explained his situation,
09:29maybe Gi-hun could even get him out.
09:31Clearly, big bro is fighting his own demons.
09:38Instead, Jun-ho opts for a pointless detour that helps no one.
09:47Number 2.
09:48Gi-hun's plan.
09:49Gi-hun's attempt at overthrowing the guards was the first chink in the game's armor.
09:53For that, he deserves his kudos.
09:58Still, he could have come up with a better plan considering he had three years to work
10:05on it.
10:06Despite the resources at his disposal, all Gi-hun had for a ploy was a GPS and a dental
10:11implant.
10:13Moreover, his very strategy to change the game from the inside appears rather flawed.
10:19He wasn't the savior he thought he'd be.
10:21Rather, in the age of influencers and conspiracy theories, social media, if not the police,
10:27could have brought more attention to the murderous island.
10:36Mysterious disappearances, battles royale, bringing down the bourgeoisie, the internet
10:41hive mind would go ham.

10:59Number 1.
11:00One More Game
11:08A recurring theme in Squid Game is that of gambling one's life away.
11:12The hope of winning big is what keeps the players coming back for just one more game.
11:16What they don't realize is that the game has always been rigged.
11:23In season 1, the contestants manage to quit but are drawn back in for another round.
11:28In season 2, they get to vote after each game but still can't leave.
11:32The chaos inside is somehow more consistent and ordered than the horrors haunting them
11:36outside.
11:37Yet, it is undeniable that every time they choose to stay, they are making the worst
11:42decision of their lives.
11:52The same goes for Gi-hun, who picks one more game over his daughter, regardless of his
11:57noble intentions.
