00:07as questions are asked over what exactly caused the accident.

00:10Korean officials said on Monday that they would conduct investigations of all Boeing

00:14737-800 aircraft operated by the country's airlines.

00:19An American delegation, including Boeing personnel, would also help with the crash investigation.

00:26Eleven investigators from the Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board and eight

00:31U.S. Joint Investigation Team members will begin an on-site investigation starting from

00:36today.

00:38The ill-fated plane had aborted a first attempt at landing for reasons that remain unclear.

00:44Then, during its second landing attempt, it received a bird strike warning from ground

00:48control before its pilot issued a distress signal.

00:52The plane touched down without its front landing gear lowered and skidded along the

00:56runway before bursting into flames when it struck a concrete embankment.

01:00The positioning of such a rigid structure has been questioned by aviation experts.

01:05It should never have a wall anywhere near the runway.

01:10Nowhere near it.

01:11So when you look at it, you see the plane exit the runway.

01:15It then travels about 100 metres, possibly less than that, and impact the wall.

01:22What struck me the most about it was why that concrete berm was there.

01:27Because that airplane could have stopped, people could have gotten off of it if they

01:31hadn't hit that concrete berm.

01:34Why was it there?

01:36Structures at the end of runways known as localisers are common at airports worldwide

01:41to assist with planes landing, but are most commonly made from less-resistant materials

01:46for safety reasons.
