O'Connell hails Darnold after 'big-time performance'

Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell says he is proud of Sam Darnold after his performance against the Packers.

00:05big-time performance when his team needed it. Phenomenal moment in the

00:08locker room after the game when he when he finally made it in there. It was really

00:13cool and I'm just so proud of him.

00:15Kevin and your teammates talked about the reception you got when you came back to the locker room.

00:20Can you describe it from your point of view?

00:22Yeah, a lot of water bottles, a lot of water. It was just mayhem. I think I

00:29blacked out, you know, when Aaron Jones grabbed me and lifted me up. I

00:33didn't know what to do with my hands in that situation. It was, yeah, it was an

00:36interesting moment but a fun moment, man, to be embraced by your teammates like

00:40that and yeah, it's just, it's always fun to be able to have that moment

00:45with my teammates.

00:46There's so many things that lead into moments like this for Sam since he

00:50became a Minnesota Viking just to see how he's ultimately been able to, you

00:56know, maximize everything about his opportunity and our football team loves

01:03him for it and I've had an absolute blast coaching him and just so proud of

01:07him.

01:08It was great to be able to obviously talk to, you know, the best to ever do it.

01:12It's always special whenever you get to have him call your game and talk to guys

01:16like Tom Rinaldi after the game. It's, you know, I don't I don't take stuff like

01:20that for granted ever, you know. It's a special, you know, special moment to be

01:24able to, you know, share with those people.
