00:00I don't think we've ever built a car that made you actually feel this comfortable doing something so wrong. It's visceral, raw
00:09and powerful.
00:20For 15 years, BBI Autosport have specialized in high-end aftermarket tuning.
00:27We take this beautiful canvas that Porsche gives us and
00:30we tailor it to a client's need or to a specific goal that we're after.
00:33We started with a 991 GT2 RS, the most powerful car Porsche has ever put out as a production vehicle.
00:40We just wanted to have a more focused car.
00:43It was a daunting task. A custom calibrated engine, upgraded turbo and
00:49advanced cooling make this Porsche one of a kind.
00:52This is the BBI GT2 RS VMAX. VMAX because we developed it for top speed runs.
00:59To hit as fast a speed as possible as fast as possible. It's Porsche's flagship sports car. It's got amazing aero, great power,
01:07incredible handling.
01:09From first glance, you probably wouldn't be able to tell that it's any different from a car at the showroom floor.
01:15It's a little lower, it's got slightly different wheels, it's got some interior removed. It has a hell of a lot more horsepower.
01:21It's deadly, but fast, unassuming and actually you can go get your groceries in it.
01:28A pretty impressive daily driver, but it's on the track where this car is truly at home.
01:34The airstrip is awesome because you're in a controlled environment.
01:38You can choose to run by yourself or next to somebody who's 40 or 50 feet away from you.
01:41You're really hyper focused on how the engine feels and come back, talk to the crew.
01:45They end up looking at all the data. We can take that and apply that to the next time we go back.
01:49We've done a lot of these half miles.
01:50We did learn a lot there about thermal management, learning about tuning, turbo shaft speed and efficiency ranges.
01:59Being out there to me feels more like a tool that allows you to focus and hone rather than this white knuckling.
02:06I don't know what happened. I'm just glad I made it to the end.
02:09Looking strong. What's that mile an hour going to be?
02:12249.8 miles an hour for Darren.
02:19The focus of this entire project really highlights the other components of our product line.
02:24It shows that when you put everything together in a package, you have this OEM plus feel of a vehicle
02:30that could maybe have been built by the Skunk Works program at Porsche.
02:36The fastest we've gone in this car is 227 miles an hour.
02:43We did some quick math. It's geared to 242 and we can raise the rev limiter a little bit.
02:49Maybe with a long enough road, we could go 245.
02:52This car has bigger turbochargers, more intercooler, better calibration, a water methanol injection system,
03:00better chassis to handle the high speed, and of course running the Michelin tires
03:04because they've just proven to be phenomenal at any speed and power level.
03:09There's also a lot of work on the interior.
03:11We've done a lot of work on the interior.
03:13We've done a lot of work on the interior.
03:15We've done a lot of work on the interior.
03:17Modifying vehicles at this level takes years of experience.
03:21and the latest technology.
03:23Modifying vehicles at this level takes years of experience.
03:26Modifying vehicles at this level takes years of experience.
03:31and the latest technology.
03:35Cars like these, fueling can be an issue so we need to add secondary fueling,
03:38so we'll take the factory manifold, this plastic piece here, detail here,
03:42scan the manifold, scan the engine bay
03:44and come up with this aluminum 3D printed piece.
03:48This technology, along with the reverse engineering methods
03:51allows us to create stronger, better components.
03:54All that texture, right?
03:55If we're gonna 3D print it,
03:56you get a lot of creativity in manufacturing,
03:58so we ended up coming up with this little design,
04:00making it so that you don't get that buffet inside the car.
04:03Just anything to redirect that airflow
04:05down six or seven inches back there,
04:08it just got it closer to the air scoop.
04:10And a transformation like this doesn't come cheap.
04:14The price of a GT2 RS is $350,000.
04:19With all the work and the development that we've done,
04:21probably makes it close to the half million mark.
04:31The hardest part about going that fast
04:34is keeping your right foot on the accelerator.
04:39Everything in your body tells you,
04:41okay, this is enough.
04:43The wind, the noise,
04:45the way that the chassis is talking to the ground.
04:50After about 200 miles an hour,
04:51the car will start to kind of pick a lane.
04:54You sit there and the car settles into itself really well.
04:59It's hard to describe that feeling.
05:05It's just, it's incredible.
05:09I like the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde duality of it.
05:14You can take it to the grocery store,
05:15but it performs like a supercar
05:17that will slap you in the mouth
05:18if you mess up a little bit.
