Georgia's President Salomé Zourabichvili defiantly joins protesters

The president says she won't step down on Monday, when the newly elected president, Mikheil Kavelashvili, is due to take over.

00:00Georgia's President Salome Zorabishvili has joined thousands of protesters in demonstrating

00:06against the government's decision to delay EU accession talks until 2028.

00:13Those gathered in the city's capital waved EU flags and formed human chains along the

00:18Muktvari River in a demonstration arranged to coincide with the one-month anniversary

00:24of the country's ongoing protests.

00:27But also comes a day ahead of the inauguration of Mikhail Kavlashvili, a loyalist of the

00:33Georgian Dream Party, as Georgia's new president.

00:39His election in October was deemed illegitimate by Zorabishvili and the pro-Western opposition.

00:46Zorabishvili has said she will defy the results of the legislative elections and remain in

00:52office after Monday.
