00:00India, on Friday, announced seven days of state mourning after the death of former Prime
00:07Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, one of the architects of the country's economic liberalization in
00:13the early 1990s.
00:14Dr. Manmohan, who held office from 2004 to 2014, died at the age of 92 late Thursday
00:23evening.
00:25As a mark of respect for the departed dignitary, it has been decided that seven days of state
00:30mourning will be observed throughout India.
00:33A state funeral will be accorded to late Dr. Manmohan and the national flag will also be
00:38flown at half-mast.
00:40The official date for the state funeral was not immediately announced, but a senior member
00:45of the Congress Party suggested it would be held on Saturday.
00:50Dr. Manmohan, an economist-turned-politician who also served as the governor of the Central
00:55Bank, was ailing and admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi.
01:02He was born into a poor Sikh family in a western province now in Pakistan on September 26, 1932.
01:10In late 2010, he came under fire for a series of corruption scandals that have blocked the
