00:00Lawmakers from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party have asked the country's cabinet to
00:05veto a series of controversial legal amendments passed by the opposition.
00:10The DPP says it will seek a temporary injunction against the three sets of amendments to laws
00:16on recall elections, budget allocation and the functioning of the constitutional court.
00:21It will also ask that that same court, the country's highest, to rule on the constitutionality
00:27of the amendments before they take effect.
00:29The proposed changes to the court would force it to have at least 10 sitting justices to
00:34issue a ruling.
00:36Currently, there are only 8 justices on the bench.
00:39The opposition bombing down says the ruling party is exploiting a legal loophole.
