00:00A 7-year-old girl has died and several people injured in a stabbing attack at a school in

00:06the Croatian capital of Zagreb.

00:10Local media stated the attacker entered a classroom where he targeted a teacher and

00:15a number of students, reportedly also injuring himself after attempting to commit suicide

00:20at a nearby emergency room.

00:24Interior Minister Davor Božinović says the suspect, who has been detained by police,

00:30was a 19-year-old male former student of the school who was mentally unstable.

00:54Several children have been taken to various hospitals in Zagreb and the teacher and one

01:16of the injured students remain in intensive care.

01:25After more than 70 hours of negotiations, German metal workers' union IG Metal has secured

01:31a wage agreement with Volkswagen, preventing plant closures and safeguarding jobs.

01:38As part of the deal, 35,000 jobs will be cut in Germany by the end of 2030 and the capacity

01:45of the group's German plants will be reduced by more than 700,000 vehicles.

01:51For remaining employees, there will be no cuts to monthly salaries nor compulsory redundancies

01:57until 2030, providing job security for thousands of workers and their families.

02:22Volkswagen has been in discussions with the union since September, after the company's

02:28threat of plant closures sparked mass worker strikes.

02:36Russia's central bank has announced its decision to hold its benchmark interest rate at 21

02:42percent, despite fierce criticism from influential business leaders.

02:48It comes as Russia continues to struggle with high inflation, brought on by military

02:53spending on the Kremlin's war in Ukraine, alongside labour shortages and large enlistment

02:59bonuses.

03:01The bank justified its decision by saying that credit conditions had tightened more

03:05than envisaged by the October rate hike.

03:10The decision has put Russian President Vladimir Putin in a difficult position, as many of

03:15those criticising the move come from within the Kremlin itself.

03:19A growing misalignment between the president and the central bank is also becoming increasingly

03:24evident.

03:25However, despite an inflation rate of 9.3 percent, Putin insists the country's economic

03:54situation is stable.
