00:00The administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is committed to implementing the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act.
00:07In the program Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon,
00:10said Atty. Vincent Philip Maronilla, spokesperson of the Bureau of Customs,
00:14that under this revised law,
00:16the manipulation of primary goods will be avoided,
00:20such as abuse in the market.
00:22Atty. Maronilla also said,
00:24they are strict in their surveillance of shops and warehouses that have agricultural products
00:30and they ensure that they pay for them properly.
00:34This year, more than Php 1 billion will be spent on agricultural products
00:38that were confiscated by Customs,
00:40including mackerels.
00:41Meanwhile, while the boxes were abandoned by the Balikbayan,
00:46the Customs Department also took action.
00:48Other agencies are also happy.
00:51This is the first batch.
00:53The need of donation is being studied by our DMW.
00:58We hope that they will be able to distribute this this week.
01:02And before Christmas,
01:05hopefully we can start distributing this first batch of donated Balikbayan boxes to their recipients.
01:13These Balikbayan boxes were victims
01:16of unscrupulous deconsolidators and consolidators.
01:21In other words, the UFWs took the money,
01:25but it was not processed when it arrived here in our country.
01:28This was done by the Bureau of Customs and the Department of Migrant Workers.
01:32This will still be processed after they are abandoned.
01:36With the help of EDCAP, or the Deconsolidators Association of the Philippines,
01:41and the DMW,
01:43we will be able to distribute this in the next few days.
01:47Will these Balikbayan boxes be sent to the intended recipient?
01:54Or will you distribute this to other people?
01:59No, we will distribute this to the intended recipient.
02:03Because we know that our UFWs are doing this
02:07so that they can send this to their families.
