Shoppers usually flock to businesses either a week or two before Christmas to take advantage of the new stock or specials offered by retailers to boost sales.

But this year, business have been slow in South Trinidad.
President of the San Fernando Business Chamber, Daphane Bartlett says she is looking forward to the reopening of the refinery.

01:10and she believes that the government does not understand how important the

01:29Bartlett speaks about diversifying the economy and is urging citizens,
01:42especially big companies, to stop importing foodstuff.
01:46She asks why do we feel the need to import 10 different brands of cornflakes.
