00:00The government has stopped the reforms to create job opportunities here in the Philippines.

00:05The government has also ruled out the need for Filipinos to become citizens one day.

00:10Kenneth Paciente of PTV returns to Balitang Pambansa.

00:16President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has insisted that the government should continue to build bridges

00:21to improve the well-being of OFWs.

00:24He is also leading the 2024 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas.

00:30According to the Executive Board, the government should continue to work with other countries

00:35to strengthen labor agreements to ensure the protection of OFWs.

00:40We are strengthening our labor agreements with other countries,

00:44conducting aggressive campaigns against illegal recruitment and trafficking,

00:48mobilizing the agarang, kalinga, and saklolo for overseas Filipino workers that need funds,

00:57keeping our government communication lines open to migrant workers through the One Repatriation Command Center,

01:05and facilitating the safe repatriation of OFWs who are affected by conflicts or calamities.

01:11Although the government is true to the rights of OFWs,

01:15the government is unable to implement reforms to create job opportunities here in the Philippines.

01:22Our dream is to one day make overseas work a choice rather than a necessity.

01:29We continue to implement reforms in governance and economic development

01:33to provide our people with opportunities here at home.

01:37Meanwhile, the President has introduced 13 overseas individuals and organizations

01:42who have done a great job in their respective professions and communities.

01:47The President praised them for bringing glory to the country.

01:51We continue to prove time and again that whatever the tides of destiny,

01:56wherever they carry us, within or beyond our shores,

02:00there is always a compelling story of Filipino grit, passion, sacrifice, resilience, resourcefulness.

02:10The Filipinos' competence, our work ethic, and genuine care for other people

02:15make us a truly remarkable race.

02:18The Executive Board of the Philippine Government encouraged Filipinos to be an inspiration

02:22and to represent the awardees and continue to contribute to the development of their communities.
