00:00David Gray, when I asked him about it on a Saturday at Eastmains last week,

00:04he was a little bit confused.

00:06Everybody in the plan wants to know the same thing.

00:09Is this a sign that the Black Knights are going to give you access to players

00:15that you wouldn't normally have access to?

00:17Players outwith your price range or outwith your reach.

00:21And he said, well, I hope so.

00:23And he volunteered the example of Emi Marcondes last January

00:28as being that type of signing that he would like to see,

00:33that calibre of signing he would like to see.

00:37So, listen, we all know recruitment's been a hot mess in there.

00:45Partly because of the work of the recruitment department,

00:48but also because managers kept changing.

00:51So that makes it impossible for those guys.

00:54It's constantly the criteria of what they're looking for,

00:58it's changed because it's another manager and he doesn't want that guy.

01:02He wanted a no-nonsense defender, he wants a ball-playing centre-half.

01:05He wanted a winger, he doesn't play with wingers.

01:08So it's going to be interesting to see how it pans out.

01:12There's no doubt they need to upgrade quality.

01:18There are glaring gaps in that team.

01:24If you want to be top six and challenge for Europe.

01:29So let's not pretend that this is about building a team to challenge for Europe.

01:37And top six next year, you need to build a team

01:40that's capable of going on a ridiculous run of results now

01:43to get into those positions.

01:44You need to build a team, you know, a top four team right now.

01:50You need to try and build that team that's strong enough to be top.

01:53So it gives them time to catch up and catch up and get into that top six.

01:57You need to make up a lot of points, you need to beat a lot of good teams.
