Most of us might be groaning with the prospect of a sweltering summer, but for the city's

children this could well be the best part of the year.

Say hello to Modesh, you'll be seeing a lot of this big yellow chap over the next couple

of months dotted around Dubai.

It's all about Dubai summer surprises, 65 days of mainly indoor activities for families

across the city.

It all kicked off with a swish at the new Dolphinarium.

An audience of around 800 were treated to a 3D look into marine life in the UAE before

the stars themselves came out and put on a show.

Organisers were keen to highlight the huge logistical operation behind this summer's

entertainment.

We have 25 participating shopping malls across which all the activity is going to take place.

In addition to that we have Modesh Fun City which will be the biggest indoor themed activity

area for children.

The events always attract people from other parts

of the emirates who were keen to see the pizazz that Dubai can offer.

Actually I'm from Ras Al Khaimah, I came here just to make them enjoy this one, it's different

compared to Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai or Samba or surprise or anything like that.

The government says around 2.5 million people are expected to visit Dubai over the summer

months despite the scorching temperatures.

And with daily activities for the next 65 days, DSS organisers hope they can capitalise

on the large flow of tourists.
