00:05Welcome to the Gulf News Update for Wednesday, August the 6th.

00:09Here are the top stories at this hour.

00:11Russian hackers stole 1.2 billion internet credentials from major US companies and others

00:16around the world in what is likely to be the biggest data breach ever.

00:20The US firm Hold Security said that the gang, which it dubbed Cybervore, collected confidential

00:25usernames and passwords from some 420,000 websites, ranging from household names to

00:31small internet sites.

00:32The firm said that your data could have been stolen from service or goods providers to

00:37whom you entrust your personal information from your employers, even from your friends

00:41and family.

00:42A project to rename the streets of Dubai will be completed by next year.

00:47All of the city's main streets have already been renamed, while 50% of the internal streets

00:51have also been renamed.

00:53The project is part of a new address system which will see Dubai divided into 13 sectors,

00:57with each sector subdivided into communities and streets.

01:01Under the new system, each building on a street will have a unique number that will make locating

01:05an address easier.

01:08Indirect talks between Hamas and Israel continued for a second day today in Cairo, as a three-day

01:13halt in fighting seemed to hold in the Gaza Strip.

01:16In an interview with the BBC, US Secretary of State John Kerry said that border crossings

01:21should be open, without explicitly calling for an end to the siege.

01:25Hamas reportedly wants international funding to help reconstruct Gaza, as well as a lifting

01:30of Israel's crippling siege on its 1.8 million population.

01:35In sports, Spanish midfielder Xavi Hernandez has announced the end of a dazzling international

01:40football career crowned by La Roja's 2010 World Cup triumph and two European championships.

01:46I have decided to leave the national team.

01:48I think my time there has finished," the 34-year-old Barcelona player told a news conference.

01:54Xavi won 133 caps and played a decisive role in Spain's triumphs at the World Cup in South

01:59Africa in 2010.

02:02Pran Kumar Sharma, the creator of iconic Indian comic book character Chacha Chaudhry, has died.

02:07He was 75.

02:09The cartoonist, who long battled cancer, died at 9.30pm on Tuesday in New Delhi, his family
