00:19Joshua, the Senate Committee on Ways and Means investigated the fake PWD IDs

00:26and found out that it's affecting the government's income.

00:32Where did the 500 to 2,500 pesos go?

00:36In Valenzuela City, the LGU went after some of the fake persons with disability IDs.

00:44The Senate Committee on Ways and Means found out that it means you can buy something in the area.

00:50How much is the fee per ID?

00:53The smallest one is P500.

00:56P2, P2, P5.

00:58There are people who come close, house to house.

01:04Then online, they got it.

01:06In other words, someone is selling fake PWD IDs.

01:12But they claim that it's fake.

01:15So it's like their racket.

01:18But Valenzuela LGU showed that

01:21fake PWD IDs are different from the original PWD IDs.

01:24The government claimed that the government lost a billion pesos

01:28because of the fake PWD IDs.

01:36I have friends who drink but have PWD IDs.

01:39They drink every night.

01:41They do gimmicks every night.

01:43But they have PWD IDs.

01:44P88.2 billion pesos in terms of leakage

01:47is happening in our economy.

01:52Meaning, P88 billion is supposed to go to government

01:57if they are legitimate.

01:59But they're not going to government.

02:02The P88 billion is in the form of taxes.

02:05These fake PWD IDs are really causing a lot of economic damage.

02:13The Department of Finance said that this has a bad effect.

02:17If there are many fake IDs,

02:20it can also translate to higher prices for the general consumers.

02:25Because, one, these businesses are here to make profit.

02:31And if the system is abused with these discounts,

02:34then the only way to recoup those losses is by putting a higher price.

02:40Gatchalian sees a solution.

02:42Improve the technology so that problems like this can be avoided.

02:46In Quezon City, the solution is to have a QR code.

02:50Upon scanning this QR code,

02:52we'll also verify if the ID is valid or not.
