Civil servants in France go on strike after no-confidence vote topples government

French civil servants had planned a strike over budget cuts, with the protest eventually coming just a day after the government collapsed due to a no-confidence vote.

00:07demonstrators took to the streets to protest his proposed budget bill, which prompted the motion.

00:13Prime Minister Michel Barnier proposed to slash €40 billion in public spending

00:18and raise taxes by €20 billion.

00:21Public service unions called for a national day of action and strike

00:25as Barnier's budget was deemed unacceptable by many.

00:28It doesn't change anything because the government is changing

00:31and public service is increasingly undervalued.
