00:00Where have you been?
00:01I'm sorry.
00:02This is a crazy idea.
00:03No.
00:04We're on our way.
00:05Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today, we're counting down our picks for the most well-choreographed,
00:10entertaining and or memorable salsa dances on film.
00:14You're absolutely amazing.
00:16I'm kind of busy.
00:20Number 10.
00:21Trying to impress.
00:23Along came Pauly.
00:24For this Ben Stiller comedy, the lead character Ruben Pfeffer goes from a worrisome guy to
00:28a more open-minded romantic.
00:31This scene illustrates his transformation as he woos Pauly with a dance.
00:35It also has some of the most unlikely and entertaining salsa choreography in movies.
00:53Stiller has a lot of energy despite not being a traditional dancer.
00:57He gets very physical, making you laugh as he does an over-the-top routine.
01:08We might all be Jennifer Aniston's character here, watching with excitement and embarrassment
01:13as somebody tries their hardest to impress.
01:15It's ultimately a sequence that makes you confident to follow in Pfeffer's footsteps.
01:20Number 9.
01:27Sad salsa.
01:28How to be a Latin lover.
01:29In this comedy, Salma Hayek and Eugenio Derbez lend their talents to an unorthodox salsa
01:35scene.
01:36Hayek's character Sarah talks about her tradition of turning a sad song into an impromptu dance.
01:45It's a great twist on a traditional number, giving a more realistic look at how somebody
01:49expresses themselves.
01:51Both professional actors give this an unpolished feel that's totally endearing.
02:06There's a welcome dose of sentimentality here, mixed with humor that allows the players to
02:10be more free-spirited.
02:12The performers do their best to make it all effortlessly real.
02:15With a funny interruption, the whole thing comes to an end after Hugo pleads with them
02:19to stop.
02:28Number 8.
02:29First dance.
02:30Cuban Fury.
02:42Exploring the world of salsa, Cuban Fury follows a former dancer's attempt to get back into
02:46the groove.
02:47Frost's hero Bruce Garrett is out of practice, trying to learn the ropes again from someone
02:52much more skilled.
03:06This scene shows off the beauty, danger, and unexpected highs of salsa dancing.
03:11Frost brings his comic personality to the sequence, playing the perfect foil in an entertaining
03:16face-off.
03:17The character also receives surprising feedback from his partner that makes this more of a
03:21contact sport.
03:28The two might not be the most obvious pair, but they create a memorable team as one tries
03:33to keep up, and the other offers up some special moves.
03:45Number 7.
03:46Salsa Bar.
03:47Step Up Revolution.
03:49If this scene from the long-running franchise is any indication, you don't need a fancy
03:53club to salsa.
03:54This bar has more than enough dance floor to accommodate lead characters Sean and Emily.
04:05Trying their hand at the specific style, they generate a supportive crowd to cheer for them.
04:10It's a feel-good and quick number that doesn't have all the usual frills.
04:16Step Up Revolution shows a more realistic look at dancing in a bar, having fun with
04:21someone you love, and enjoying the night.
04:23The main performers even let go with some fancy footwork and other tricky moves for
04:27good measure.
04:37Number 6.
04:38Salsa Night.
04:39Center Stage.
04:40While this movie focuses on the world of New York ballet dancers, it doesn't really focus
04:45on New York ballet dancers.
04:46The ensemble also tries out a few other styles along the way.
04:54This exciting scene gives them a chance to salsa, and they make the most of it.
04:59As Jodi and Charlie pair off, they prove to be good enough to keep up in a completely
05:03different genre.
05:04The impressive dips and twirls only inspire more people to hit the dance floor.
05:15That's not salsa!
05:16That's not salsa!
05:17That's not salsa!
05:18That's not salsa!
05:19That's not salsa!
05:20That's not salsa!
05:21That's not salsa!
05:22When their friends get involved, the salsa dance really comes to life.
05:23Whoever might be more authentic ultimately doesn't matter.
05:26All parties shine in a fun excursion from their strict dance studio.
05:42Number 5.
05:43Salsa in the Ring.
05:44Wait, what do you mean, stay in the ring?
05:46If you can't keep up, then we're there for one dance.
05:49Like a battle.
05:51In true life.
05:52This fantastic scene mixes the beauty of salsa with the intensity of a boxing ring.
05:57Starting as a challenge between Eva and Ash, many other worthy dancers soon join in, executing
06:02increasingly hairy maneuvers.
06:14These performers could almost double as acrobats at several points.
06:18Pushing their bodies to the limit, the talented group lifts each other up in both literal
06:22and figurative ways, and show off their strength, flexibility, and focus.
06:26Street Dance 2 gives the viewer more than just a traditional salsa, elevating the genre
06:31and making creative use of the unique space.
06:37That's what I call a battle.
06:41Number 4.
06:42Party Dance.
06:43Step Up 2, The Streets.
06:44While at a party, Andy West and Chase Collins explore their feelings for each other over
06:48the course of a groovy dance scene.
06:57They're both nothing short of flirty throughout the sequence.
07:00From their close-quarters moves to a notable dip, both characters bring their own romantic
07:04energy to this salsa.
07:05West even takes Collins' hat at one point in another moment that showcases their chemistry.
07:13After watching this scene, you'll see why it looks like so many partners fall in love
07:19doing this dance.
07:20It's more subtle than some of the other step-up routines, but it also helps provide
07:24insight into the main relationship.
07:31Number 3.
07:32The Club, In The Heights.
07:33In this adaptation of the Broadway musical, Usnavi and Vanessa end up at a salsa club,
07:38and the stylish venue makes for some awesome dancing.
07:43Who, me?
07:44You wanna dance?
07:45No, man.
07:46Okay, I took my chance.
07:47It's cool, it's cool, hey, if you want to.
07:49You don't mind.
07:50I'm fine, I'm fine.
07:51While the characters might not be having a normal date, they do get to witness some expert
07:56routines.
07:57The lead performers separate as the drama heats up.
07:59This allows the film to spotlight the many talented dancers in this ensemble, aided by
08:04some seriously slick editing.
08:13The electric salsa maneuvers make you want to follow their lead and turn your own home
08:18into a personal dance floor.
08:20By the end, they all come together for an awe-inspiring battle.
08:33Number 2.
08:34Learning The Ropes.
08:35Dance With Me.
08:36When Raphael and Ruby join each other at the club, they both show off their dancing skills,
08:41and this scene puts you at the center of the action.
08:46What do you mean?
08:47We have the whole floor.
08:49While they get off to a bumpy start, the couple show you that you don't have to be perfect
08:54to salsa.
08:55Cheyenne and Vanessa Williams dance as a pair and with a group, showing how much fun it
08:59can be to let the music take control.
09:11There's also some impressive spins and twirls along the way that showcase the performers'
09:15techniques.
09:16It's an energetic journey made even more effective by some stellar lighting and backup
09:21dancers.

09:49Number 1.
09:50Dance Contest.
09:51Dirty Dancing, Havana Nights.
09:53The only thing is when I look into your eyes.
09:56I see the sun from the distance in your disguise.
09:59You whisper secrets that you want to get my dreams.
10:02When I wake up, do you let us both dream?
10:05Javier Suarez and Katie Miller test the boundaries of 1950s Cuba through both their romantic
10:10and their dancing partnership.
10:12With Miller's family watching, she engages in a steamy dance with Javier that oozes passion
10:16and chemistry.
10:17Baby, this love is horrendous.
10:20I got my love for horrendous.
10:23Move, move, move.
10:24I got you.
10:25And I will enjoy each of you, baby.
10:28The actors play beautifully off of each other, taking center stage for this romantic routine
10:33and sharing a kiss that discomforts those watching them.
10:36It's fair to say that the better the salsa dance, the more outrageous it all ends up
10:40being.
10:41Some of the best moves aren't exactly family-friendly, with this one being one example as Suarez
10:45and his partner light the floor on fire.
