00:28dear Honourable Chief Minister of Bengal, the lady of substance, the lady who has become
00:39a role model today in the era of women empowerment, Mamata Mai Iron Lady Mamata Banerjee.
00:55She has been organising film festivals and I'm so grateful to her, that's why I said
01:02with an attitude of gratitude, I salute her for making me a part of the Bengal Kolkata
01:09International Film Festival, for making me a part of Bengal culture, Bengali cinema and
01:17politics.
01:18Thank you very much, Mamataji.
01:20I'm grateful indeed.
01:23All the distinguished guests on the dais, especially my most favourite, the lady, Madhubimukher
01:51ji.
01:52Mrs. Madhubimukher ji, I salute them.
01:56I said she's my most favourite because I've seen many of her films since my childhood
02:01and especially since I was in FTII and our Vice Principal over there at the FTII was
02:09a great director from Bengal, India, Mr. Hrithik Ghatak, late and great Mr. Hrithik Ghatak.
02:18Many films I have seen and Satyajit Ray, the icon, the cult figure.
04:18I'll be very brief now and a brief story of mine.
04:29I'll tell you that I started my career, rather I got selected for FTII in Bengal in Kolkata
04:38and the person who was very kind and helpful to me during my selection was a great director,
04:47late and great Mr. Minal Sen.
05:17He's no more, a very dear friend of ours.
06:46All the people who have come over here, time and again I have met you over here.
06:59Mamta ji, grateful to you once again.
07:03Long live Mamta Banerjee.
07:05There will be a lot of talk about your achievements.
07:08There will be talk about films, politics.
07:12This is not a political stage, so I won't talk about politics.
07:16But when it comes to social and cultural things, apart from cinema,
07:21then there will definitely be two things.
07:24One, the Bengali festival which has become a world festival today, Durga Puja.
07:33And Durga Puja has been declared a heritage festival by the United Nations.
07:41This was declared, this association was formed, this name was given, this respect was given.
07:46This happened because of Mamta ji's leadership and Mamta ji's struggle.
07:52And secondly, the Bengali language, the language of Guru Ravindranath Tagore,
08:00the language of Sharan Chandra, the language of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose,
08:07the language of Mamta Banerjee, the language of all of us,
08:12such a lovely language, such a beautiful language,
08:18that language is also a result of Mamta ji's struggle.
08:24In her leadership, the Bengali language has been given a special recognition,
08:31a special heritage, a special place.
08:34For that, along with all of you, I salute Mamta ji's leadership.
