Shaun Wright-Phillips feels Liverpool must prioritise new contracts for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

00:00It's hard to say give him what he wants because I don't know Liverpool's rules or wage structures

00:05or anything like that but one thing I can say if you have a player in your team like that,

00:10regardless of his age, the amount he runs, the amount of end product he gives off,

00:16not only for him to score goals but the amount of goals he's actually created over the last two

00:22years for me has been phenomenal. He's getting better and better as an all-round player and I

00:29think he's somebody they 100% need to find a way to keep. Whatever they have to do for me,

00:35they should keep him there. You don't find defenders like him that often. The elegance

00:43he plays with, you never really, you very rarely see him sprint and he seems to be back to his best

00:50but of course if Virgil wants to continue playing football at a higher level and Liverpool don't

00:55really want him to play that much then that's a different conversation but from what I see now,

01:00he's as fit as a fiddle and he's raring to go every minute and he looks so focused.

01:08He wants this title this year so for me you have to keep players like that around the club. That's

01:13the whole point. That is kind of what makes your club a bigger club when you're keeping the players

01:21and going through the motions with you. He's been with the lows, he's been with the highs,

01:25he's gone neck to neck with City for two or three years, then they had a dip

01:30and he's come back and it's a free title race. He's done it all and I think those players you

01:35need to keep because the experience and knowledge they can pass on to others is incredible.
