00:12Gusmao, who arrived on Sunday for his maiden visit to Malaysia, was received by Prime Minister
00:17Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim upon his arrival at 9 a.m.
00:22Also present were Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri
00:28Fadilah Yusuf, cabinet members, foreign diplomats and senior government officials.
00:34Gusmao and Anwar then held a meeting to discuss bilateral relations and potential cooperation
00:39between the two countries.
00:41Later, both leaders witnessed the signing of a land concession agreement in which the
00:46Timor-Leste government will provide a piece of property for the development of the Malaysian
00:51Embassy Chancery Complex in Dili.
00:54They also witnessed the exchange of visa exemption notes that will provide visa exemptions
00:59to citizens of both countries.
01:01At a joint press conference, Anwar said Malaysia looks forward to welcoming Timor-Leste as
01:06a permanent member of ASEAN next year when the country assumes the chairmanship of the
01:11regional bloc.
01:13Gusmao said the partnership between the two nations underscored their shared commitment
01:18to peace, stability and development in the region.
01:28Both leaders then attended the official luncheon at Anwar's official residence, where they
01:32shared a light-hearted moment.
01:52Gusmao, who assumed office in July last year, also danced with performers.
02:05During his visit, the Timor-Leste leader is also scheduled to have an audience with His
02:10Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and deliver a public lecture at the Institute
02:16of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations.
