Taiwan's presidential office expressed gratitude to U.S. President Joe Biden's administration for approving the sale of almost US$400 million in military equipment, while China condemned the move.

00:04a new arms package. The U.S. government on Friday approved a sale of military equipment worth nearly

00:10400 million U.S. dollars. The deal includes spare parts for F-16 fighter jets as well as advanced

00:17radar and communications systems for the military. The presidential office says the

00:22purchase will allow Taiwan to deepen its self-defense capabilities.

00:26China says the arms sale violates the one-China principle and is

00:30inconsistent with U.S. leaders' commitment to not support Taiwan independence.
