00:00The Philippine Sports Association for the Differently Abled of Philzpada continues to look for new para-athletes
00:07from all over the country as a preparation for the major tournaments that they will attend in the future.
00:14Here is the report of teammate Paolo Salamatin.
00:19The Philippine Sports Association for the Differently Abled of Philzpada has no plans to stop looking for new para-athletes
00:26in the hopes of increasing the chances of winning medals in major tournaments in the coming years
00:32such as the Asian Youth Para Games, ASEAN Para Games, and 2026 Asian Para Games.
00:38With the return of the Philippine National Para Games in its country in November,
00:42after a five-year hiatus due to the pandemic,
00:45this is a big thing for the national para community
00:48that served as an event for deserving athletes to be discovered
00:52and made fun of by the Philippine team.
00:54In the PTV Sports interview, aside from the PNPG event,
00:58the Philippine Paralympic Committee and Philzpada President Michael Barredo
01:03shared the initiatives they are carrying out
01:06to speed up the search for para-athletes before the so-called tournaments.
01:12We are also doing training with trainers
01:15where we will go around the country, the provinces, and the highly urbanized cities
01:22to introduce para-sports, Paralympic sports, and what is classification.
01:27Not in all areas, but we will choose the six or seven sports that can be introduced
01:32for talent identification as well.
01:34Now, that's why we are on a fast track
01:38to find potential athletes all over the country.
01:44Barredo also added that their program is also focused on discovering
01:48young athletes with talent in the grassroots sporting events of the country,
01:53such as Paralympic Games and Batang Pinoy.
01:57There are four sports in the Paralympic Games
02:00where our students with disabilities can join.
02:06As you mentioned earlier, I am listening to your program.
02:10In the next Batang Pinoy, they will also be included.
02:14As of now, the training of national para-athletes in various sports
02:19as well as Paralympians are still ongoing
02:21as part of the preparation for the local and international competitions
02:24that they will compete in next year.
