Osaka 2025 World Expo: Organisers hope to attract more European visitors

The World Expo will be held in Osaka in 2025 and will feature more than 160 countries and regions present

00:00With just under five months to go, preparations are well underway for the Osaka World Expo 2025.

00:08Delegates from around the world met in Paris on Tuesday to discuss the latest developments

00:14and find solutions to the different challenges encountered.

00:18The World Expo is one of the oldest and largest international events.

00:23More than 160 countries will present their latest innovations next year in Japan.

00:29But with only around 7.3 million tickets sold as of November,

00:34Japanese authorities hope to bolster their communication strategy to attract more European visitors.

00:52I think there will be a lot of green energy, climate change,

00:59and other issues that need to be addressed in Europe.

01:06I would like to share this with all the European countries.

01:10I would also like to spread the message that there is a global pandemic in Japan.

01:17This is one of the issues that has not been addressed.

01:20The governor of Osaka announced Ukraine will be participating in next year's Expo

01:25despite Russia's full-scale invasion.

01:28Moscow withdrew from the event last year.

01:31Organizers hope the World Expo will bring unity at a time of global instability and conflict.

01:38Expos are an apolitical gathering of countries.

01:41It's also a non-confrontational gathering of countries.

01:44It's a possibility for the world to come together, to try and talk together, and to have a dialogue.

01:49And I think that one of the things we notice,

01:52especially in the last few years in the different geopolitical context that we have

01:56and the problems that have been arising all over the world,

01:58is that we need a place for dialogue.

02:00We need somewhere where the world can come together and where, for once,

02:04perhaps we don't let our differences separate us, but we let our differences bring us together.

02:09The Osaka World Expo will take place from April to October next year

02:13and aims to welcome an estimated 28 million visitors.
