00:07I'm TitanicFan97, the owner of the world's largest collection of Titanic on VHS.
00:14As you can see right now, we have all the walls filled up with Titanic on VHS.

00:29The year was 1997, in December, I saw it when it first came out and I've loved Titanic ever since.
00:36I've been big into film my whole life, I went to film school, so I'm heavy into film culture.
00:42And this movie for sure shapes the way I interpret in movies.
00:47I mean, this is like the first big movie I ever watched as a kid, 6 years old, watching Titanic.
00:51I mean, it has to do something to you because, I mean, it was Titanic mania at one point
00:56and we watched this movie over and over and over again.
00:59And for sure now, because I'm so involved with Titanic, it's changed everything about my daily life.
01:05It kind of revolves around Titanic at this point.
01:08I get so many packages, so I'm always at the post office collecting more Titanic
01:12or going to thrift stores and finding Titanic, so it's definitely changed me forever.
01:16When did you start collecting VHS?
01:19September 1st, 1998, take the voyage home, that's what they were saying.
01:23That's when it came out on VHS and that's when I got my first copy back in the day.
01:27We didn't start collecting until about 2012,
01:30when we went to the thrift store and saw a bunch of Titanic really cheap.
01:34And ever since then, every thrift store we went to, we just collected more and more Titanic.
01:39Until about, I would say a year ago, I started making videos about my collection.
01:43And ever since then, it kind of just took off online.
01:46I had no control over, you know, all the masses of people who shared it and sent in Titanic.
01:51And yeah, it was a good idea to just start documenting it at this point, you know.
01:54So about 74% of my collection is donated.
01:58We've only bought around like 420 around there, so we don't, you know, a lot of this is donations.
02:05Were you surprised when you got the first copies that people send you?
02:08Yeah, I mean, that's when I knew it was something special,
02:11because I didn't think anyone would submit to me.
02:13There's like no way, no one's gonna send me Titanic.
02:16And then all of a sudden, I'm opening sealed copies of Titanic.
02:19And I was like, whoa, like the good stuff, you know.
02:21I think the most valuable to me is the piece of the actual Titanic right here.
02:26Someone submitted a real piece of Titanic, fully authenticated by the way.
02:30Yeah, people send in like really nice things.
02:32I have like rare VHSes people send in display only.
02:36These are hard to find.
02:37So I have like a few of these copies people send in.
02:41Some artwork people send in are like these rocks with Titanic painted on them,
02:47which are really, really cool.
02:48People build me Legos sometimes with Jack Dawson holding Titanic on VHS.
02:53Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes.
02:56And I even get sometimes art projects.
03:00So someone will crochet Jack Dawson from Titanic on VHS.
03:04And he looks so cool.
03:05Look at that hair.
03:06Oh man, with those eyes that don't tell lies.

03:11This is one of my favorites.

03:21I don't know if I can stop.
03:22They made 25 million.
03:23I always said once I get 1 million, I might stop.
03:28So 1 million is like the final goal.
03:30But after 1997, I'm going right to 3,000 to 4,000 to 5,000.
03:36You know, we can't stop this.
03:37And so many people don't want me to stop.
03:39You know, they want me to continue this journey and they have more tapes to send in.
03:42They're like, please don't stop.
03:43We have a bunch of tapes we just found.
03:45So I don't see myself stopping anytime soon.
03:48I would love to meet James Cameron one day.
03:50I mean, that's kind of the goal.
03:51I don't know if he's a fan or not, if he's ever seen my stuff.
03:56But yeah, one day I would love to meet James Cameron.
