This online learning platform is attracting lakhs of young Indians with tech courses in local languages. This is how GUVI did it!

00:00One of the first student is like Murugan, his name is.

00:09He was from a tied to city, when he came in, he was not able to afford anything.

00:15So after joining us, he first joined in Chennai, then he moved to Bangalore.

00:19Now right now he is staying in Boston.

00:26When I was working in Paypal, I went for Aluminium Mint, that is where I met my juniors to teach

00:49them.

00:50I started doing technology videos in native languages, in a mixed mode, Tunglish mode.

00:54Because I know they are pretty smart, but the content has to be in their own style.

00:59So that is where we started this.

01:12When we reached out to colleges, none of the colleges accepted us as a startup or a company.

01:18They wanted us as a training player, not as a learning partner.

01:22So when IITM became a part of us, they started recognizing and they started looking at us

01:27as an industry leader.

01:33All the founders are technology backed founders, we didn't know how to build a business.

01:48In the first five years of our journey, we literally went to every college and in all

01:55the colleges, we sit with at least all the students around six to eight days to understand

02:00whether something what we did is working.

02:06Zen course is a live class where it should not be like yet another degree where you come

02:10and enroll and then we take you on.

02:13It goes through a pre-boot process where you pay amount and then come and take the

02:18class, a kind of a trial class.

02:20If you like it, you can join us or we'll also do assessment based on the assessment, we'll

02:26allow you to run.

02:32We do it in nine different Indian languages, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi,

02:48Gujarati and Rajasthani and English as well.

02:51We also added three international languages, Vietnamese, Spanish and Swahili.

03:03In 24 hours, we taught A and ML to around six lakh people and in that around 1.2 lakh

03:10people got certified by Guinness World Record.

03:18In continuation with that, we are building a virtual avatar which will teach in your

03:23native language coding on your own style, in your own Tunglish or English way.

03:48This is the right time where you have to upskill yourself because so without skill, none of

04:05the companies right now are looking at it, like they don't even care about your degree

04:08or the pedigree where you are from.

04:10All they want is like a skill and outcome.

04:30Professionally it has helped me to transition from non-technical to technical data science

04:34role.

04:35There are interview sessions which GUI conducts like mock interview sessions that really helped

04:41me in understanding how real interviews are.
