Did these cops plant a gun inside a bike?

A man was arrested for arms smuggling, but his family alleged a larger conspiracy in which the cops were caught red-handed.

00:19That's what the family is alleging.

00:21Let's go back a little and see what actually happened.

00:27It was around 8.30pm on 26th September.

00:31These policemen visited Ashok Tyagi's home in Meerut.

00:35That's him, Ashok.

00:37A few minutes later, one of the policemen started walking towards the bikes parked in

00:41the corner, seemingly on his phone.

00:44He turned on his phone's flashlight, quickly opened the bike's carrier and put something

00:49in and closed it.

00:51He walked away, still on his phone, with his flashlight still on, and started pacing in

00:56the air.

01:07Then he left the scene.

01:09Less than a minute later, he ran back towards the bike and waited.

01:13He seemed to be calling out to someone, when suddenly, his companion walked over with Ashok's

01:18son, Ankit, who was a teacher.

01:21The rest of the family trailed behind.

01:23The CCTV footage wasn't very clear, but the cops seemed to be checking the bike.

01:29Then they pulled something out of the carrier.

01:31It was allegedly a pistol.

01:42The policemen arrested Ankit and took him into custody, under charges of being an armed

01:46smuggler.

01:48While Ankit was in custody, the women of the family rushed to the Inspector General's office

01:53with footage of the incident.

02:09He waited outside his office the entire night.

02:22The family finally met the IG at around 11 the next morning and showed him the video.

02:27The IG ordered a probe.

02:49Ankit's family said that they were involved in a long-standing land dispute with another

02:53family and alleged that the police had planted evidence and arrested Ankit at the behest

02:58of the other family.

03:14Both the policemen were identified and removed from their posting at the Kharkhoda police

03:19station and were transferred to the police lines.

03:22Ankit was later released on bail.
