00:03My wife has seen the death news of me, mine, on the television twice.
00:08She as commanding officer's wife did not want to be seen as a shattered woman.
00:13What happened when she got to know that the news was wrong?
00:16She says, someone or the other has lost it.
00:30My wife has seen the death news of me, mine, on the television twice.
00:48Oh gosh!
00:49Once when she was 8 months pregnant.
00:52The point which you made about they keep the family together.
00:55When first time when she saw this news, I was a major in Lollap, same incident which
00:59we narrated about the cook.
01:01And a news came, another officer by similar name, he was killed in action there.
01:08So news taker said, Major K.J. Singh, Rashtriya Rifles, Lollap.
01:13So she saw the news.
01:15She was 8 months pregnant.
01:16She was staying with her old parents.
01:18She did not tell anyone.
01:21Those days were the days of no mobiles and all.
01:23In next day morning, she was the first one to get up and go and stand at the gate, pick
01:27up the newspaper.
01:28Because newspaper carried that headline.
01:31She hid that newspaper from her parents.
01:34In spite of her condition of being 8 months into pregnancy, she was more bothered about
01:39her old parents, the responsibility, jimewari, imandari, wafadari.
01:44Now second time is even more critical.
01:47Second time I was commanding officer in Kashmir.
01:50An officer by similar name, K.J.Singh, he again was killed in action.
01:57Again the news came, Kal K.J.Singh killed in Jammu and Kashmir.
02:00I have given these details in my book.
02:02And this time she was staying in the unit rear in Ranikhet, near Ranikhet place called
02:09Chobatiya.
02:10And the whole battalion was in Kashmir.
02:12She got the news around about 11 in the night.
02:14The whole night with two children, one about 8 years old, one about 3 years old.
02:19She kept awake the whole night thinking what will I do all alone by myself and with these
02:24two children.
02:25And she as commanding officer's wife did not want to be seen as a shattered woman.
02:31She got up, she dressed up, she combed her hair and she was ready to face any visitor
02:36who comes.
02:37And face with full vigour, full confidence of being a commanding officer's wife who cannot
02:44waver under any circumstances.
02:46I always say, military wives are the strongest people on this planet.
02:52What happened when she got to know that Khabar toh galat thi, he is alive?
02:57Her first reaction was, again I have written in the book.
03:00She says, kisi na kisi ne toh khoya hai.
03:05She had a horrible night.
03:10She says, if I feel happy now, that won't be correct.
03:14Kisi maa ka beta, kisi wife ka husband, kisi bachche ka baap, someone has gone.
