00:00It's past 3 a.m. and a new climate finance deal has just landed here in Baku.

00:08After hours of negotiations, countries have reached a compromise on the key sticking point,

00:13the so-called new collective quantified goal, the very core issue of this summit.

00:18They've now agreed to provide $300 billion in annual climate finance by 2035.

00:24Earlier on Saturday, negotiators from the least developed countries group and the Alliance

00:29of Small Island States walked out of the meeting room as discussions between developed

00:35and developing nations over the latest draft text intensified.

00:40The debate over raising the $250 billion proposal made on Friday further deepened the divide

00:46between countries.

00:47The G7-7 plus China group, representing over 130 developing nations, demanded at least

00:53$500 billion annually by 2035, calling for more transparency about the structure and

01:00form of these funds.

01:02Many admitted it has not been an easy journey.

01:05And while the EU welcomed the outcome with a commissioner for climate stating in the

01:08plenary that the $1.3 trillion objective can still be achieved, India voiced its disappointment.

01:17Governments have also reached agreements on carbon markets and found a compromise on adaptation.

01:23Even though the new climate finance deal doesn't fully meet the request from poor countries,

01:28it has opened a new chapter in the climate talks and most importantly saved COP29 from

01:34the brink of collapse.

01:44At least 11 people were killed and dozens injured after Israeli airstrikes devastated

01:48parts of central Beirut, with diplomats scrambling to broker a ceasefire in the country.

01:54The strike destroyed an eight-storey building, leaving a crater in the ground, and was the

01:59fourth on the Lebanese capital in less than a week.

02:03Lebanon's civil defence said the reported death toll was provisional, as emergency responders

02:08were still digging through the rubble looking for survivors.

02:11A separate drone strike in the southern port city of Tyre killed one person and injured

02:15another according to the state-run national news agency.

02:20The news comes as heavy ground fighting between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants continues

02:25in southern Lebanon, with Israeli troops pushing farther from the border.

02:30A US envoy travelled to the region earlier this week in an attempt to broker a ceasefire

02:35between Israel and Hezbollah, claiming a truce was within grasp.

02:42Thousands marched across France and Italy protesting violence against women, only days

02:48before the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

02:53Those demonstrating protested all forms of violence against women, whether it be sexual,

02:58physical, psychological or economic.

03:02The United Nations designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination

03:07of Violence Against Women.

03:10The goal is to raise awareness of the violence women are subjected to and the reality that

03:15the scale and nature of the issue is often hidden.

03:21Violence against women and girls remains one of the most prevalent and pervasive human

03:25rights violations in the world, according to the United Nations.

03:30Globally, almost one in three women have been subjected to physical or sexual violence at

03:36least once in their life.

03:44Thousands of people took to the streets of Barcelona to demand a 50% drop in rents and

03:49to call for a housing strike if the situation does not improve.

03:54Authorities reported 22,000 attendees, whilst organizers claimed it was 126,000.

04:01The protest, organized by the tenants' union, carried the slogan,

04:05It's over in Catalan.

04:08The main demands include promoting indefinite contracts, to put an end to blackmail and

04:13insecurity at the end of each contract, to recover housing for residential use and to

04:18prohibit speculative buy-in.

04:20A Bank of Spain report indicates that nearly 40% of Spanish renters spend an average of

04:2640% of their income on rent and utilities, compared to the EU average of 23%.

04:33The rally in Barcelona comes just over a month after thousands marched the streets of Madrid.
