00:00In the world of sports, for the first time, the Philippines won the New Zealand Tall Blacks in their game

00:07in the window 2 of the FIBA Cup or FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers that was held last night in the Mall of Asia Arena.

00:13Because of that, only one win is needed for the national basketball team

00:17to receive the automatic qualification in the FIBA Asia Cup that will be held next year.

00:28It's like a movie story how the Philippines won against the New Zealand Tall Blacks

00:35this Thursday night in the Mall of Asia Arena.

00:38It was hard and they had a big advantage in the beginning

00:41because it seems that the three-pointers of the players from the New Zealand side were not playing well.

00:48Despite that, the Philippines did not lose confidence.

00:51The game was stable when the halftime arrived, 45-45.

00:55But when the third quarter arrived, the national basketball teams were already in a hurry

01:01to lose the 16-0 scoring run.

01:05In the fourth quarter, the New Zealand Tall Blacks tried to catch up

01:09but they were able to steal the lead with only two points.

01:12Despite that, the composure of the home team was low.

01:16The final score was 93-89.

01:20Naturalized player Justin Brownlee was the first to score 26 points and 11 rebounds.

01:28Kai Soto scored 19 markers with 10 boards and 7 assists.

01:36I'm just very happy we got the win.

01:38We really worked hard in terms of preparation and coming into this game.

01:43We just wanted to bring our A game because we know how good New Zealand is

01:47and we really respect them as a team.

01:50For head coach Tim Cohn, it's even more impressive that they were able to win

01:55even though their players were not able to play because of injuries.

02:00We haven't seen our best team yet.

02:02And yet, we've been able to beat the No. 6 and the No. 22.

02:06So, we're still trying to see exactly where we can go and how far we can go.

02:11Following the historic victory of the Gilas Contrasangpunan of New Zealand,

02:15they will face Hong Kong next on Sunday here at the Mall of Asia Arena.
