00:00Hello, my name is Greg Wright. I'm the Deputy Business Editor of the Yorkshire Post. I bring
00:06you some sad news this morning. The former Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott, has
00:11died at the age of 86. His family said he spent his life trying to improve the lives
00:17of others, fighting for social justice and protecting the environment. The former trade
00:24union activist and ex-merchant seaman died peacefully and surrounded by relatives at
00:29his care home. Lord Prescott was a key figure of Sir Tony Blair's New Labour Government
00:35and he was seen by many as a custodian of the party's traditional values in the face
00:40of a modernising leadership. He was ennobled in 2010 and introduced to the chamber as Baron
00:47Prescott of Kingston-upon-Hull, having served for 40 years as an MP for the city. My name
00:54is Greg Wright. I'm the Deputy Business Editor of the Yorkshire Post.
