00:00Understanding acting has added vast layers in my dancing in terms of dramatics and understanding
00:13body language is something that comes from dancing as an actor, so I think it's a beautiful
00:19blend.
00:20Subconscious for me at this point, like how I don't practice breathing and dance anymore,
00:25but I think since I'm so new to acting, that's something I'm still learning and exploring.
00:37Yes and no, I think about it in a way, I hope it would be a certain kind of way, there would
00:44be more work that I feel excited by, but at the same time, I don't think about it so much
00:50because I fully believe that whatever is happening has to happen and as long as creators
00:56like Suni exist, actors like me exist, artists like Nikola exist, there will still always
01:01be a thriving industry of like quality work.
01:04It already is some form of an oligarchy, but who am I to comment on it, I'm a very small
01:09piece of this big puzzle, doing my job with honesty, that's it.
01:20Production of production design, costume design, hair and makeup and camera.
01:26My brief to Thea who was the costume designer is that I wanted primary colors and my reference
01:34was La La Land, there's a scene in La La Land where they're dancing, it's all primary colors,
01:40so she took that and she knew the script, so she blended the Indian element with, you
01:48know, so it's not one or the other, which results in a very unique look.
01:54Similarly, with production design, the colors that we use for the house, how Shailaja aged
02:02the house and of course, hair and makeup, Shabana, especially for this music video and
02:11then Igor, who was my DOP, I shared all location stills with him.
02:18He had a say, but I remember we were doing the look test and Thea sent swatches of these
02:25fabrics and we shared that with him for his feedback.
02:29So everything is linked together, no depart, we don't work in silos, everyone works together
02:38to create a look.
02:45I think I was allowed freedom because there was already an example in my family, so I
02:51think that helped me find my way in the world for sure, but I didn't plan on acting originally,
02:58I wanted to be a musician, then I became a dancer and acting found me and at this point,
03:06I think I'm starting to fall in love with the craft of it, so I would love to see my
03:11potential through.
03:13I used to think that either you have it or you don't have it, but that is not the case,
03:18it is a performance art that you can train in and you can learn and just like every other
03:25performance art, it's limitless, so you can just keep learning for the rest of your life.
03:37Yes and no, because sometimes within a structure and within the rules you have, sometimes you
03:43find more freedom, in my experience, sometimes when there are no rules, you might be so overwhelmed
03:50by the limitlessness of choice that that might throw you off, so it's hard to say, every
03:56project, every script comes with its own, you have to lean into that, you have to like
04:04put that here and be like, let's go.
