00:00The last quarter of the year, or the advent of Christmas, is a time for spending and shopping.

00:05And when there's a lot of money going around, expect the bad guys and criminal minds to be

00:09scheming after one's cash or valuables. This time of the year, this 2024 has shown otherwise with

00:15crime on a downtrend, as the latest police data show, in which Orion Lesigas lays out in the story.

00:24The crime rate in the country continues to decrease. This is despite the approaching

00:28holiday season, which is often associated with a rise in crimes. According to PNP spokesperson,

00:34Police Brigadier General Gene Fajardo, the crime rate recorded by the PNP for the bare months

00:39has decreased by 21.42 percent compared to 2023. This is equivalent to 1,631 cases. The data

00:49covers September 1 to November 10 of this year. A significant decrease was seen in robbery cases,

00:55down by 25.64 percent. Theft cases also dropped by 10.14 percent.
