00:00This happened as a result of an ad we saw in the local newspapers by E-Tech
00:07inviting interested investors to make proposals to develop this bay. Let's be
00:15clear on that. Chairman of Superior Hotels Limited John
00:19Abood told TV6 News that his next move was to contact the Marriott Hotel about
00:26their feelings on bringing their brand to Tobago. We spoke with Mr. Abood in
00:31Porto, Spain. We called Marriott. He said listen we're looking to do a project in
00:36Tobago. We're looking to submit for a project in Tobago. What is Marriott's
00:41position? Would you all support us? And when I say support I don't mean
00:45financial. Marriott don't put their money nowhere. Support us meaning in terms of
00:49the branding and the expertise. They said yes. Mr. Abood said he was eventually
00:55contacted and told that his company was shortlisted. So we prepared our proposal.
01:00We submitted it to E-Tech. I guess together with other proposals from other
01:05people. I don't know who they are but I'm assuming that I'm not the only one who
01:08submitted a proposal. A couple of months later I can't remember the timelines. We were
01:12written to or called and said listen you've been shortlisted and therefore we
01:17want you to make a presentation to the E-Tech evaluation committee on your
01:24project. In part two of our exclusive interview with Mr. Abood, he speaks about
01:30meetings he held with Chief Secretary Farley Augustine and other members of
01:35the Assembly in taking the project forward. Elizabeth Williams TV6 News.
