00:00Eddie, just tell us a bit about your research alongside Currys and what their repair services
00:08involve.
00:09I've been doing a campaign for Currys. It's all about repair, not replace. I think as
00:16a nation, we spend billions of pounds just replacing stuff. For instance, sitting down
00:22in a plane seat and I've just heard a crack because my phone's cracked against the armrest.
00:29I've broken numerous computers from smashing the keyboard too hard with my hands. Mouses
00:35always break. So yeah, I think just being my size, always dropping things. So just being
00:41my size, you're just a bit susceptible to breaking stuff like that.
00:47Explain a bit about yourself and becoming a strong man and the sort of mental strength
00:51that that entails as well, you know, as well as the obvious physicality that you need.
00:58Yeah. I mean, to become a strong man in any way, shape or form takes basically a life
01:05commitment. I would say failing was the biggest part of strongman because you fail way more
01:12than you win. And over the years, you know, I got quite frustrated with myself, turning
01:19up to contests and come in second, third, fourth, second. And I sort of got to a point
01:26like, well, I'm never going to win. I felt like giving up. And I went to a psychiatrist
01:31and a psychiatrist broke it down for me that losses and failures are part of the path to
01:36becoming the champion. And she said, what if I told you, you were only five more losses
01:43from becoming the world's strongest man. And that's when it clicked.
01:46And what was it actually like getting that title of the world's strongest man? I mean,
01:50that's, you know, in general, that's quite a pretty cool title to have and to be able
01:54to say that and see all that hard work pay off.
01:58You know, we do nothing but admire and respect strength. So to me, the world's strongest
02:04man is the best title in the world. And to have it is fulfilling or fulfilled a childhood
02:13dream. Well, I'm training my son up at the minute and he's lifting weights and doing
02:18very good at it. And I'll say to anyone, as I do to my son, you know, I think the main
02:25thing is, is getting you active is, you know, just going to the gym and just spending that
02:31an hour, an hour and a half just working out just to get your mind elsewhere from the rat
02:37race that we live in, you know, the pressures and strains of life, everyone needs an out.
02:45And I would encourage anyone for that out to be going to the gym, going for a run, going
02:51for a swim, whatever that might be, but always exercise. I think it's one of the most important
02:56things in today's society.
