00:06That's the premise of the latest short film that I'm producing called The Scar.
00:14The story of The Scar is about Arthur and Mercy, who are a husband and wife, and Mercy
00:19discovers one night a massive scar on Arthur's chest.
00:24The same day that Arthur got his scar, Mercy sustained a head injury that damaged her memory.
00:32When she asks him, how did you get that scar, Arthur starts telling her this impossible
00:37tale about how it happened when they were in feudal Japan trying to escape from a samurai
00:41warrior.
00:42The film is small in some ways, but it's huge in other ways, because it takes its audience
00:48across time and space.
00:51Every time that she asks him, how did you get that scar, Arthur tells her these fantastic
00:56stories about fighting samurai in feudal Japan and being cowboys during the gold rush and
01:02escaping pirates in the Mediterranean Sea.
01:04Each story, while it's on this grand, fantastic, impossible scale, it contains threads of the
01:10truth.
01:11Throughout the story, she gets more and more frustrated wanting to know what actually happened
01:15to them.
01:16We've been married for about three years and we have two little girls.
01:21Even though it's challenging, we're trying to incorporate our family into the filmmaking
01:24process.
01:25To be making this with people that I love and respect and trust and then having this
