00:00A group of fishermen managed to rescue a distressed dolphin at Telukumba on Tuesday.
00:07One of them, Samswar Hashim, said it seemed almost resigned, too weak to swim back out
00:13on its own, but still strong enough to move cautiously.
00:19Using a sunshade net, the fishermen gently coaxed the dolphin into a calmer position
00:24and guided it back to deeper waters.
00:27Samswar said it was no easy task as dolphins are known to be quick, elusive and fiercely
00:32intelligent.
00:33He added that this was the first time a dolphin was found alive near the shoreline in Telukumba
00:38as there were instances when the mammals died after getting entangled in fishing nets.
00:44Dolphins have been seen in Penang waters over the years.
00:47The ones which are mainly spotted in Penang are the Irrawaddy dolphins, which are mostly
00:52found in the northwest of the island near Teluk Bahang, Teluk Aling and Sungai Pinang.
