As Americans await election results, Washington is on high alert for possible violence from Trump supporters, fearing a repeat of the Capitol riots in 2021.

00:05Washington is bracing for the worst.

00:07The District of Columbia is preparing for another violent attack of supporters of Donald Trump,

00:13should he lose to Kamala Harris.

00:15As you can see behind me, the White House complex is looking like a fortress.

00:20A black metal fence of more than two meters in height

00:23has been added to already existing tight security measures.

00:27Federal and local authorities fear scenes reminiscent of the deadly assault

00:32on the Capitol on January the 6th, 2021.

00:36On that day, a pro-Trump mob ransacked the halls of Congress

00:40as the then president spread lies about his election loss.

00:44And today, again, Trump has already started to question the integrity of the vote

00:50before ballots are counted, especially in Georgia.

00:54In that southern state, Republican top election officials and the courts

00:58have debunked claims of fraud, but that hasn't stopped Trump from repeating them,

01:03resulting in an atmosphere of suspicion and anxiety.
