Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit Nene has been married for 25 years. The actress has now shared her thoughts on what makes a happy and successful partnership, which she agrees is not “easy peasy.”

00:00Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit Nene has been married for 25 years.
00:05The actress has now shared her thoughts on what makes a happy and successful partnership
00:10which she agrees is not easy-peasy.
00:13The dancing diva tied the knot to Shriram Nene, a cardiovascular surgeon from Los Angeles,
00:19California in October 1999, in a traditional ceremony held at the residence of actress'
00:24elder brother in Southern California.
00:27The couple welcomed their first son Arin in 2003 and the second boy Rian was born in
00:322005.
00:33It's a lot of things you have to give and you have to take.
00:38It's like it's a give and take.
00:40And you have to realize that, you know, these are two human beings under one roof.
00:44So there will be positives and there will be negatives.
00:48And you just understand that," Madhuri told to INS.
00:51And understand the fact that you will always be working towards a goal that's, you know,
00:56equal to both of you, right?
00:58You both have dreams and you have equal goals.
01:01And you're always working towards that," she added.
01:04The actress, whose latest releases Bhool Bhura Yathri with Kartik Arin, Vidya Balan and
01:09Tripti Dimri, said that one has to work towards their marriage every day.
01:14It's not easy-peasy and you know it's not like that.
01:17But you have to work at it every day and it's a partnership.
01:21There should always be respect for each other.
01:24There should be love for each other.
01:25There should be space for each other also.
01:28I think all these things together makes a marriage work," she added.
01:33The 57-year-old actress has been in the industry for almost four decades.
01:37She made her debut in 1984 with Abol and was then seen in over 70 films.
01:43In her journey in cinema, Madhuri has been lauded for her acting and dancing skills,
01:48which earned her several honours including a Padma Shri in 2008 by Government of India.
01:58No, not really because I have always gone with the gut feeling and when I heard the
02:03Bhool Bhura Yathri script, I had a feeling that I had to be part of it because that's
02:08just what I felt.
02:09Also, I felt that it gave me something different to do.
02:14People have not seen me in this avatar and for me, it's always been about what I want
02:19to do, what excites me, what I feel is going to add a new dimension to who I am.
02:25So I have always selected a script like that and I think that's always been my motto
02:29in life.
02:30You know, do what you love to do, there's nothing to prove.
02:33It's like, just enjoy what you are doing.
